ONE Vote '08

YouTube Debate Didn’t Touch On Global Issues

The first real-time debate through YouTube with eight Democratic presidential contenders demonstrated the change the Internet has brought to politics. Of the 41 videos the public sent, CNN aired 41. Journalists usually steer clear from topics as gay rights and sex education, but the public’s questions were refreshingly direct. However, questions on global issues weren’t broached.

Two campaigns are trying to engage the 2008 Presidential Candidates on U.S. foreign policy priorities. ONE Vote '08 is an unprecedented, bi-partisan campaign to make global health and extreme poverty foreign policy priorities in the 2008 presidential election. ONE Vote '08 educates and mobilizes voters to ensure that the next American president is committed to using "strategic" power to end global poverty and keep America strong.

ONE Vote '08: A Surreal Launch
