ONE Vote '08: A Surreal Launch

Yesterday, we officially launched our new presidential initiative, ONE Vote ’08. After weeks of intense preparation and long hours by everyone at ONE headquarters, the events of the day seemed almost surreal. My bet is that 'surreal' is how the day will remain in my memory.

At the launch press conference, the crowd's energy was electric and the anticipation in the air gave everyone the feeling that we were witnessing a truly historic event in American politics. The bi-partisan solidarity of oft-rivals Bill Frist and Tom Daschle, the inspirational speech by the African nurse Karen, and standing-room-only attendance left the entire crowd in a nearly tangible awe. Even with the temperature steadily rising in the packed room, everyone stayed captivated at the edge of their seats (or tiptoes) to the very end, an encore performance from the African Children’s Choir.

Stay tuned as we gather together the still-expanding ripples of yesterday’s splash. With top coverage in almost all major news networks, official support from both the RNC and DNC, and extensive postings from across the blogosphere, you can expect some exciting updates as the day progresses.

It was great

I was there also and it was a great event. My favorite part was the African choir. Can I find there music anywhere?
