The first real-time debate through YouTube with eight Democratic presidential contenders demonstrated the change the Internet has brought to politics. Of the 41 videos the public sent, CNN aired 41. Journalists usually steer clear from topics as gay rights and sex education, but the public’s questions were refreshingly direct. However, questions on global issues weren’t broached.
Two campaigns are trying to engage the 2008 Presidential Candidates on U.S. foreign policy priorities. ONE Vote '08 is an unprecedented, bi-partisan campaign to make global health and extreme poverty foreign policy priorities in the 2008 presidential election. ONE Vote '08 educates and mobilizes voters to ensure that the next American president is committed to using "strategic" power to end global poverty and keep America strong.
Close ally to the ONE Vote ’08 is Impact ’08: Building a Better, Safer World. This non-partisan initiative of the Center for U.S. Global Engagement kicked off on July 25th. The aim is to build political support for greater investments in development assistance and diplomacy – which are vital to America’s security, economic prosperity and moral leadership.
“The next President will have to make important decisions about how to redefine America’s role in the world and how to restore America’s moral leadership and global respect. Impact ’08 wants to ensure that the next President is committed to greater investment in development and diplomacy to build a better, safer world. We hope the Presidential candidates and their advisers are listening,” said Madeleine Albright, the former Secretary of State and Impact '08 Co-Chair.

Re: YouTube Debate Didn’t Touch On Global Issues
It was the democratic election must tell of whether to whom Presidential candidate must take the lead, Yet, political advocacy is such an important matter to consider, Being concerned for this coming election it is the obligation of everyone to cast his or her votes, as of now there are only a few days until the next election. It happens Tuesday, November 4th. This is easily the most important election in living memory. However, I never have put much stock into the “political polls,” which are taken as fact by the major news outlets. The reason is that you never know just how those polls’ results are derived. If you have 2/3 of a sample (that’s what the group that is questioned for their opinions is called, a sample) saying that they, per se, intend to vote for Obama instead of McCain, you don’t know what you’re really hearing. The entire population of the United States of America, including all expatriates still retaining citizenship, along with citizens of the territories, has not and couldn’t possibly be sampled. What the 2/3 of the sample means is that 2/3 of the sampled population intends to vote for Obama. The sample could be almost anything; they don’t include the sampling data along with their poll results, so you don’t know just who or what may have contributed to that large of a skew in the data. Don’t let the media cast your vote for you; vote however you think is best.
